• When: 11/12/16
  • QIC: Flamer
  • The PAX: Jordache, Tooth Fairy, Beaker, Deuce, Abraham, Fuzzy Balls, Bing, Plank, T-Bone, Doughboy, FNG Scuttlebutt (Matt Hawkins), Root, Taz, Billie Jean, Flamer

I sent a little note out on The twitters that there will be pain and there will be fun…and we had both.

Warm-ups (we don’t need no sticking warm-ups)

Slaughter start (or as I incorrectly called in a shotgun start…it is hunting season) with 10 Burpees OYO

SSH IC x 15

Windmill IC x 15

THE PAIN:  Mosey to the sidewalk for 10 Slow Merkins IC, 20 LBC’s, 5 Burpees OYO, Mosey to the next corner for 10 Slow Merkins IC, 20 LBC’s, 5 Burpees OYO, Mosey to next corner towards New Hope Bapt. for you guessed it 10 slow merkins IC, 20 LBC’s, and 5 Burpees (some of the pax were already growning at me at this point)

Mosey to New Hope: Partner up for 10 pull ups (the original plan was to do 3 sets but we had to many people waiting so I made an audible to do just one set) while other partner does 20 squats.  I also had intended to use the trees (AKA logs as Taz pointed out to me) but once again not enough logs for the number of guys we had (which is a great problem to have).

At one point during these stops of pain, Billie Jean runs up to me and says, “we are playing soccer today, aren’t we? Because I told Deuce and Fuzzy Balls we were and I didn’t want them to think I’m a liar.”  I laughed and said I don’t know what you are talking about…

So we mosey back towards Northview with 2 stops on the way for, you guessed it, 10 slow merkins IC, 20 LBC’s, and 5 burpees…so we did a total of 50 slow merkins, 25 burpees, and 100 LBC’s.

Mosey down to the real football (soccer) field for some more pain.  We partnered up and did wheel barrow walks for 15 yards then 5 derkins, switch and repeat for other partner, then one partner carries the other partner on his back for 15 yards and does 5 squats, switch and repeat for other partner and then rinse and repeat these exercises back to the starting point.

THE FUN: (which is still really good cardio by the way)  We did get a game of Real football (Soccer) going for the last 25 minutes.  Duece and Fuzzy Balls were relieved.  I had Tooth Fairy and Jordache pick teams and it ended up being fairly equal teams.  It looked like everyone had a good time, even the non-soccer players like Abe (nice body check on me by the way).  I told Abe to cherry pick to try and get a goal  (we all wanted to see what his celebration would be) but Bing had him locked down on D.  YHC’s team took the early lead 1-0 and then there was THE goal.  Plank gets the ball at mid-field takes it on his left foot, takes a couple of touches, and then bends it like Beckham right in the goal from about 35-40 yards out….Gooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!  YHC’s team (the good guys) ended up pouring it on at the end and won 4-1 but it was definitely a competitive game.  But Plank definitely had the goal of the game.

WOD:  In light of Veterans day and the backlash of the election I felt this verse was fitting.  Galatians 5:13-14 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.  But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.  For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command:  “Love your neighbor as yourself.”  Let’s use our freedom in America to love one another and not preach hate.  After, the election there was a lot of hate going around from both sides.  This is a great opportunity for us a Christians to show the love of Christ and give others grace.  My daughter’s basketball coach has a saying, “Offense sells tickets, but Defense wins championships.”  In light of this verse I would like to change that saying to “Hate sells tickets, but Love wins championships.”

It was an honor to lead you men this morning and I’m glad we finally got some good numbers, 15, out here for a Sat workout.  Maybe it was the soccer, maybe it was The Flamer, or maybe it was luck but I’ll take it.  For those of you that weren’t there you missed a good one.

Flame out.
