We got together to do a simple service project: Ruck cans to the Hickory Soup Kitchen. I knew that the Soup Kitchen was not open so the plan was to Ruck with the cans and then I would drop them off later once the Soup Kitchen was open. We completed a 3 mile round trip and once we got back I handed out some shirts that TMF had sent me. When I went to the Soup Kitchen, the canned goods for donation filled a shopping cart. Austin was appreciative for the donation but thought it was amazing how we incorporated the cans in a workout. He started laughing and said that is cool!
TMF stands for the Travis Manion Foundation (https://www.travismanion.org) and is named after a Marine who was KIA on April 29, 2007 while helping his fellow soldiers and enabled everyone else to get alive. He lived to help others and his quote that he lived by is “If not me, then who” which is something to keep in the back of our minds. Don’t wait on someone else to do something, go ahead and do it. If you want to read more about a great foundation (ran by Travis’ sister) then check out the link above.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
